    Character: Yu Kanda
    Canon: D. Gray-Man
    Version: Manga
    Canon Point:
    Age: 20
    Gender: Male

    History:

    Personality:
Kanda's unfortunate past claims a big influence on his personality. Kanda was aware he was a 'creation' from the point of his artificial birth and he knew he didn't exactly have a choice of what he could possibly be but the thing he was created for: an exorcist. His purpose was never kept secret from him: he was created to destroy and to save. Kanda suffered experimentation's that felt more like torture under the pretense that his hardships would save people he would never be able to meet. Despite being so important to the cause, he was always treated differently because he wasn't human. This made him bitter and eventually, it carried into his adulthood in a very well-hidden hatred. Most of his animosity is against The Black Order.

Kanda naturally has a short fuse, there's a certain irony in a man who meditates yet has a very terrible temperament. His patience is sparing, he prefers to remove himself from social gatherings in order to keep himself from dealing with people, and he isn't afraid to attack his own comrades if they try his patience. Regardless of his temperament and his short fuse, he's very good at hiding his true feelings.

At first impressions, Kanda can come off as cold, blunt, and very uninterested in others, with far too much arrogance at his own skills or being. He's prone to insults that more than likely will upset or offend the masses without remorse yet it's mostly due to his bluntness. When it comes to confrontations, Kanda isn't afraid to start them or resolve them preferring the most ancient traditions of slicing things first and asking questions later. His temper plays a big roll on his patience preferring the isolated lifestyle instead of dealing with the nuisance of people and their problems he just can't be bothered to care about. Kanda treats everyone the same, if he feels they're worth his time he'll bother treating them a bit more mildly. Unfortunately, the list of people he could so much as question whether he cares about or not is very small and insignificant. His own emotions, the anger towards the world, and the fact that he really doesn't want any troubles may sometimes prevent him from getting along with people. That's not to say he hasn't grown bonds with some. He's a human after-all, even he can find himself questioning his own concerns from time to time. He lacks patience when it comes to irritating situations which vary from unwanted company to the indecisiveness of a situation. Although he might not be a very expressive guy in terms of reactions and words, he's always very alert and conscious of situations. If he sees something that essentially affects him or concerns him, he will not hesitate to make his opinion clear but with all else he prefers perceiving without being perceived.

That being said, Kanda is still very well trained when it comes to emotions. The damage of his past and the pressures of his present are enough of a stressor for any normal individual and, while he is quite the violent type in comparison to his fellow exorcist, he could inherently be worse. There's nothing but pent up rage and murderous intent towards the world within the exorcist he keeps very well hidden. He has his demons and he's very much willing to burn for them. He's gotten all of those emotions and thoughts that might trigger undesirable emotions completely isolated and pent up that, if provoked and set loose, can inherently cause a very terrifying wave of build up feelings that might make Kanda very violent and dangerous. One can even say his outward anger is but a mask for his real emotions.

From the point in which I am taking him, Kanda has become to slowly see the error of his ways. His anger towards the order is still high and his control on his temper still needs a lot of work, but he's trying, especially with the people that haven't left his side.

    Fears:
      fear of nfinished business
Canonly, Kanda doesn't particularly portray many fears, even during a battle with a Noah who's power was to break a person apart by showing him his 'fears', he wasn't phased. He's got a strong conviction and even a stronger sense of reality. That being said, he openly states how he doesn't exactly take kindly to dying without being able to keep his promises or fix whatever business he had pending. In canon he was given a chance to die and he said he would have gladly died peacefully had the affairs left unfinished (saving Allen Walker) were not fulfilled. It's what keeps him going.

      fear of losing loved ones
Although Kanda won't ever make the implication that someone means a great deal to him, Kanda can be very loyal. He'll fight for anyone he thinks should live and even put them against him in order to protect them. His actions at times might be a bit unorthodox but he does his best. He really is caring when he needs to be, he just doesn't quite know how to show it. It's a fear of his to lose people because he hardly has anyone in the first place. He would blame himself regardless of his involvement or not.

    Weaknesses:
      physical weakness
There is a limit to Kanda's strength. There is such a thing as straining his innocence and can lead to not only damaging himself in the sense that he becomes very 'brittle' and breakable forcing his seal to do a lot of work. His sword can break and render itself unusable. This limit can not only hinder Kanda but it's something he has to keep in mind lest he overuse his abilities.

      lack of social skills
Although Kanda has been surrounded by people most of his life, his hatred towards them has made it difficult to interact. He's not very good at getting points across regardless of his blunt nature and he won't exactly try to help people the conventional way. He'd first attack someone in order to get them to leave the dangerous area before doing anything else. He'll also have some trouble communicating, preferring to do things alone rather than explain. It's something he'll have to learn.

    Mundane Strengths/Abilities:
      ❀ Innocence / Mugen
Engineered, and quite literally, to be an exorcist Kanda has the ability to destroy akuma through the invocation of innocence. Although there are many types of forms the innocence can find it's place with an 'accommodater'. In Kanda's case, his innocence was labeled as an equipment type resulting in that he uses something with the infused innocence as a weapon therefore resulting in the creation of Mugen, an indestructible katana that resonates with the bower of his binding innocence. Capable of slicing even the thickest armor, it also has the ability to invoke terrifying and supernatural attacks that can be potentially dangerous to any foe in his path.

      ❀ Expert Swordsman
Although it's canonly shown that his hand-to-hand skills aren't as pronounced as Allen Walker (they sure do 'practice' a lot) Kanda is a well known expert swordsman. He doesn't necessarily need to have his katana as shown in canon (like when his sword breaks) but Mugen tends to be his weapon of choice.

      ❀ Artificial Regeneration
Through a series of horrific experimentation's which come of being an engineered second exorcist, Kanda has artificial regeneration powered by a a seal on his chest which, with more damage he takes, grows and inherently weakens. A binding object the physically shows the strength of the seal is a lotus blossom in a sealed container located back in his designated living quarters within the order's headquarters.

      ❀ Strength and Agility
Another benefit from the second exorcist project was very heightened ability and strength. With added vigorous training on his own accord, one can almost say Kanda's strength and agility are super human. As far as stamina is concerned, with the artificial regeneration he acquires from the seal on his chest, if the damage he isn't receiving isn't dark in matter or very damage-heavy, then odds are he won't feel any fatigue. It takes a lot to drain him.

    Sensitivity/Magical Ability:
Because of his work as an exorcist, he's probably a mildly medium, almost low, in regards to sensitivity. Exorcists in his world can't tell who's demon or not but after some honing skills they're able to tell. It just takes the demon to actually use some magic before they can really tell so his skills will be rather low.

    Supply List:
  • His sword, Mugen
  • A bag with a few coins
  • Prayer beads
  • A traveling pack (he will arrive during traveling.)
  • A mechanical gollem

Kanda's stay in Star Kingdom was long though his attitude didn't particularly change. If anything it made him angrier because despite his foul attitude, he was still able to somehow have people follow him around. He had people who considered him a friend regardless of how many times he corrected them. Unfortunately, his actions spoke a lot louder than his threats. Whenever he was sent on missions to help stop their enemies, he always came back a war hero by saving people. He had many people who respected him.

Relationship wise, because of his good looks, girls tend to approach him but he has canonly always been the nonchalant type. He ignores them. He did, however, make friendships with a few of them, in particular an Ami Mizuna, Hotaru, and a Lenalee Lee. Hotaru was a child who reminded him about the innocence of children and his own at that age so he took it upon himself to protect her since she was all ready clinging to him. He was protective and that made him ease up a little when it came to trusting others.

His first real friendship/relationship outside of his fellow exorcists started with Ami, it was comprised of him bossing her around or telling her off, it eventually turned into a strong bond because she didn't seem to leave. Their relationship wouldn't blossom unto something else until they met in another place, [community profile] onepassingnight which is a game based solely on character dreams. The thing about dreams is that they don't lie, they give up your biggest secrets and when he exposed them to her, instead of pushing her away it made them closer. He's also had to face his fears and although it hasn't particularly helped him see how he can fix it, he's still trying to face them.

    Sample RP post:
It was all gone now. Everything had slid out of his fingers, hadn't it?

It was nightfall and Kanda was sitting alone on the bed in the room the inn-keeper gave him. There was a pitcher of water and a warm meal resting on the night-stand not too far from him but he didn't bother touching it. His stomach ached, his body felt sore, the black was slowly starting to return to his long hair and he was shaking. He wanted to burst but he knew he shouldn't. It was all gone now.

The exorcist inhaled a sharp pain on his chest making him bend over and his joints creak. He was still in pretty bad shape but that was far beyond his main concern. He wanted to be out there, find the person who dragged him here, get back and finish what he started. Things couldn't end like this. He couldn't see them end like this. He'd like to see the faces of central if they ever found out something was far more threatening than them.

How he had gotten out of there or so much as arrived here was beyond him. He wanted to know, he wanted to fight, but he couldn't move and instead of being out there making someone pay he was stuck in here trying to breath and keep himself in one piece, quite literally. His body felt as if any little movement he took would eventually just break him apart. It was taking a lot of his will to keep him from rushing onward but he would manage, that wasn't the problem. What was really killing him was the fact that he was alone, back to square one.

He had finally found what he was looking for and it was all gone. Just like that. It really pissed him off. "That beansprout." He gritted his teeth. If only Allen was here, maybe they could get back. The Ark would work, wouldn't it? Why the hell wasn't he here to find out? "He still pisses me off."

[Other important stuff] Not really? Umm...

    [Sample post]
    [First Person]
    - What do you think of your home world? Tch. Why are you bothering me.
    - If you could go back home, would you? Why or why not? You make it sound like I had a choice coming here in the first place.
    - If you were to describe yourself in one sentence, what would that be? Annoyed.
    - If someone provoked or attacked you, what would you do? Keep asking me questions and you might find out.
    - If I offered to save your soul for a price, would you go with it and why? Now you're definitely wasting my time.
    - Do you stand up against authority, go against all odds, and if you could, pierce the heavens with your fighting spirit? If not, would you if you could? You're talking too much.
    - You are a given a mission. Would you complete it effectively or would you goof off and do something else? Expand a little on the response.
    - Murder. What is your opinion? Useful.
    - If you could destroy a city, how would you do it? No comment.
    - Do you believe in the magic of friendship? Enough questions.

    [Third Person]
After getting his order to return to the order, he hadn't expected the headache from his previous attack to still dwindle. The trip back was proving to be a rough feat. He was slow, his movements somewhat shaky, and his temper wasn't helping the headache that was threatening to split his skull open. The weather seemed to personify his emotions as the low rumbling of thunder eventually turned into pouring rain.

With a grumble, Kanda fumbled through his pack looking for an umbrella that only managed to be a waste because the nerves on his arms were still shattered to hell. He couldn't grip it tight enough to keep it from blowing away. He heaved a sigh in annoyance and looked around the deserted street for shelter. He knew there was an inn not too far down the street typical of any big city like this but he didn't feel like putting up with people. He had enough problems dealing with them, he just needed a break. Instead, he took refuge underneath the porch of what appeared to be an abandoned house. His coat was thick enough to keep him warm despite how drenched he was from his hair, but he didn't bother moving onward. He'd wait until it slowed down, he didn't need another factor screwing up his senses.

A good half hour might have passed and Kanda might have started to doze off but he hadn't noticed until he leaned back and the creaking of the door he was supposed to be resting on woke him. He turned his head alert now that he might be disturbing someone only to notice that, in fact, this house was abandoned. He turned ever so slightly to spy inside the room: it was trashed but it was dry. At least that's what it looked like. He lifted a hand to push the door open a little farther and he realized there were specks of crimson on him. Blood. Fresh blood.

Kanda was on his feet in an instant, he ignored the pain and instead walked in, kicking the door wide open with his foot. His eyes found the source of the blood: a body sprawled face down. By the smell this had been recent and by the look of her clothes and how the room didn't seem any less ordered, she was probably a wanderer. He moved over to the corpse noticing she was a young girl, probably no younger than Lenalee. His eyes, however, caught sight of something strange, she seemed to be standing on a bed of dust. A very thick layer of dust. His hand went to his sword by instinct as the corpse reached a hand and grabbed at his foot.

      "Going somewhere, exorc-"

The Akuma was cut short as Kanda brought his blade down through her throat making sure to slice her head right off. She hadn't been dead and she wasn't even human. This akuma was probably playing possum to attract curious people for an easy kill. He stepped on the rest making sure it vaporized into dust.

"Nice try." He wasn't in the mood for this bullshit today.

[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?]
I've been looking for a place to play, really, and this had a pretty good premise? Heard good things about it. I think Kanda really fits the setting, you know?

[Which rule was your favorite and why?]
The 'no pre-series characters'. Never seen someone put that up before but I can see why.

[Where did you hear about Somarium?]
      My potential canon-mates 8D?

    [Any questions?] Do you FANDANGO?
